It was written to'W R Castle', in Boston (USA), thanking him for his letter and'appreciation of my drawings sent with the Punch Collection'. The envelope is addressed to Castle at the National Allied Bazaar in Boston (at 243 Beacon Street), and bears a return address for Rhead, along with postal marks and a penny stamp. The letter goes on to discuss Rhead's view of the ongoing war and the fortitude of the British people, as well as giving a detailed account of a Zeppelin attack over Stoke on Trent that he witnessed, which appears to relate to a raid in November 1916, and he mentions that it was eventually shot down on its way back to Germany, (conforming with accounts saying that it went down off the coast of Great Yarmouth). In good, flat condition, with legible writing and signature.
